Buffalo Herf-in-the-snow '99!

The second annual Buffalo Herf-In-The-Snow (HITS) cigar crawl and herf will be held on February 13 and 14, 1999. Last year we had 32 men and women travel to Buffalo from far and wide to attend the inaugural event. For pictures, itinerary, and a list of last years sponsors, point your web browser to

This year's version of the Buffalo Herf-In-The-Snow (sometimes referred to as "Son of HITS") will be a two day event to be headquartered at the Buffalo Hyatt in downtown Buffalo. A block of rooms are being held for us at a reduced rate. Reservations can be made by attendees by calling the Hyatt at 1-800-233-1234 or 1-716-856-1234. Please be sure to mention the word "HERF" and "ASC" when you call to let them know you are part of the group.

Here's the tentative itinerary:

Saturday, February 13, 1999:

10:30 - 11:45- Pre-crawl brunch and organizational gathering at the Hyatt Regency

11:45 - Board the bus; head for the Big Indian Smoke Shop and the Native Pride store on the Seneca Nations Reservation

12:30 - 2:00 Browse the two shops (refreshments to be served at Native Pride)

2:00 - Board the bus; head to Virgil Avenue Tobacconist

2:40 - 3:45 Virgil Ave. Tobacconist

3:45 - 4:00 Board the bus and head to Jimmy Mac's for leisurely herfing, libations, and early dinner.

6:00 - Board the bus and return to the Hyatt

6:45-7:00 - Leave the Hyatt and use the rapid transit system to go to the Marine Midland Arena for the Buffalo Sabres/New York Islanders hockey game.

7:35 - Game on!

Approximately 10:30 - post game herf and schmooze at either the Rhino Room, Havana Fumatore and Martini Bar, or the Crocodile Bar (plans not yet confirmed)

Sunday, February 14, 1999

10:30 - Tinder Box opens early specifically for Son of HITS attendees with coffee and danish available...leisurely morning herf...arrive when you want...

12:45-1:00 - Make our way over to Alternative Brews where our host Paul will open his doors just for us. We have to entire place to ourselves for the afternoon.

3:00 - Whenever(?) - Lunch will be delivered by a caterer yet to be determined (watch this space for updates) Door prizes to be raffled off after lunch.

Unlike last year, this year the Buffalo Herf-In-The-Snow II will require some upfront money to guarantee the Sabres tix, Saturday brunch, bus, and Sunday lunch. The final costs have yet to be determined and will be announced on ASC and here as soon as everything has been confirmed. The early pre-game dinner at Jimmy Mac's will be handled as it was last year, order from the menu and settle up with your server afterwards.
