Okay, folks...for at least the last year and a quarter (which is as long as I've been
scanning the posts over on Alt.Smokers.Cigars), there's been a constant flurry of both
questions regarding the construction of home-built humidors, and bragging about the
various cigar storage containers you've created. Well, now's your chance to show off the
fruits of your labors, and maybe reap a little extra something for your efforts!
It's Cigargroup's first-ever "Great Home-made Humidor " Contest! And it works
as follows:
From now, until October 31st, Cigargroup will be accepting your entries either
via e-mail at our web-site (homemade@cigargroup.com), for those of you with photo-scanning equipment,
OR at my home address:
Barry E. Ottey
211 North Cedar St.
Lititz, PA 17543-1102
........for those of you who can't scan your own photos.
Winning entries will be picked from each of the following categories:
and an overall, Grand Prize Winner will be selected from among the five finalists.
CONTEST PRIZES:
Each of the five finalists will receive an Official A.S.C. T-Shirt , and the Grand Prize Winner will also receive a professionally crafted Traveldor(tm)
I want to take this opportunity to thank Brian Samples for donating the Traveldor for our use as a Grand Prize in this contest. If you want to thank him as well, or talk with him about any of his great travel and pocket humidors, drop him a line!
CONTEST RULES:
Photos should be in color, for best viewing.
Each entry must be accompanied by a brief description of the materials used in the construction, problems you ran into as you worked, and your ingenious solutions to those problems.
The contest is open to amateur efforts, only.
All entries must be fully functional (i.e., capable of maintaining cigars at proper temperature and humidity)
The overall cost of materials (new materials, in the case of conversion efforts) must be
listed, and should be in the neighborhood of $50.00. (How "large" the neighborhood actually is, will be up to the judges, in individual instances!)
Entries must be received at our e-mail box, or snail-mail postmarked, no later than
midnight, October 31st, 1996.
The contest will be officiated over by a panel of judges appointed by the Internet
Cigar Group, and the decision of the judges will be final.
Contest entries will be displayed on our Contest Page!
