Growlers is located in the basement of Blockbuster Video, three stoplights east of I-270 on Olive Street road. It is a friendly pub where my son-in-law (and best friend) Andrew and I meet about once a week. We often split a growler of Watney's Creme Stout, each light up an hour long cigar, and solve the world problems. Oh, sometimes we try one of the 32 draught or 99 bottles of micro, specialty or import beers, but we always seem to return to the Watney's draught. There are most likely several other patrons enjoying their stogies, including a female or two joining in from time to time. The waiter said that cigar smoking is permitted everywhere except the no smoking section. They have a limited selection of cigars for sale with prices ranging from $3.00 to $10.50.
During nice weather they open up the patio for a relaxing outdoor feeling, much like a Caribbean open air lounge. The beaches and Caribbean Ocean are no where to be seen, however. So much for that interlude.
Growlers is also a restaurant, and have a good selection of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. Be sure to specify HOT french fries, however, or they will most likely be cold. A complaint to the waiter and another ten minutes will get you very hot fries, however, without extra charges.
